My Hero, My Ding

Tell us about your letter!: I read about your book and it brought a smile to my face! I was one of the lucky ones who got to experience life with my grandpa until I was an adult. I always knew we were close and that I loved spending time with him, but when I dreamt of him telling me about his death the night before he had a stroke and died, I realized what a strong bond we shared.

As part of my grieving, I wrote down stories/memories of times my grandpa and I shared together. He was a farmer a jeweler, a golfer, a husand, a father, a friend, a grandpa and a Ding Dong. The more I wrote, the more I realized what an exceptional man he was and how lucky I was.

I finally put all of my writings together and recently had my book “My Hero, My Ding…a Memoir of a Girl and Her Grandfather” published. Unfortunately, he is no longer here to see the impact he had on my life, but I believe he knew that even though we were just two ordinary people, we shared an extraordinary bond.
