September 11, 2011: What Can You Do?

I didn’t sleep too well last night. It was the early morning hours of September 11. Tossing and turning with my eyes wide open, I saw the faces of the 343 firefighters who sacrificed their lives on that horrific day.

Having a brother and a son dedicated to their vocations as firefighters, I couldn’t help but think of the gut-wrenching pain of those husbands and wives who lost their spouses and the children agonizing over parents who never returned from their shift.

I sat in the quiet of my living room this morning as the sun rose in the eastern sky. With silent tears streaming down my cheeks, I wondered what Legacy Nation could do this coming year as we approach the tenth anniversary of a day that will be etched in the minds and hearts of Americans forever.

You may be aware that the United States Congress created the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to lead a nationwide effort to remember America’s fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the tax-exempt, nonprofit Foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor our fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers.

As we prepare for September 11, 2011, Legacy Nation is committed to conduct a fund-raiser in partnership with the American Family Foundation to raise money to support the efforts of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

We’re encouraging all Americans to go to our online store on this site and purchase either a “Jesus First” sterling silver pendant or “Jesus First” charm. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these items will be sent every month between now and September 11, 2011 to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to support their ministry to the children and families of fallen firefighters.

A little bit about the jewelry…both the pendant and charm are collector’s items, made in the United States from a patented design and unlike anything that you have ever seen before. The jewelry specifics are available on the order page.

Since only our faith can help us discern and overcome the tragedy perpetrated by the terrorists in their attack against the United States in 2001, it seems appropriate that if we place “Jesus first” in our lives that we will be healed and strengthened to face those additional challenges and obstacles that will most certainly be headed our way.

So please join us in our year-long campaign; help us support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and purchase a “Jesus First” pendant or charm for you or for a relative or friend. Keep the memory of those 343 firefighters alive in your hearts by wearing your “Jesus First” pendant or charm as a testimony to their courage and the healing hope given freely by the God who created us.
